Woes of Being an Inclusive Heathen
It is Remembrance Day. I am tired. I have been very over-taxed with work lately and was looking forward to the day off. I would do a little Remembrance Day rite in my Hearth cult, watch the Remembrance Day ceremony on CBC, read a little, and take a nap. Perfect.
Unfortunately, it can’t be that simple these days. I was watching the CBC live on my phone and couldn’t figure out how to hide the comments. They were pretty bad… anti-LGBTQ+ and racist. I was shocked people would type such things while the veterans and soldiers were standing there at attention. I tried to report a few people, but, as usual that was fruitless. Hate speech is allowed these days apparently. Anyways, shortly afterwards I was watching a video talking about the new Remembrance Day stamp released by Canada Post and the pieces fell into place in my mind. Here was a picture of a Sikh veteran… and people were mad. “When did Remembrance Day become woke?” Well, sir… when those people you hate fought for your freedom. Which was in WWI and WWII. In the case of Private Singh, WWI.
Things did not improve from there. I was watching a video from a new immigrant to Canada and she was getting so much hate in the comments that I actually sent my people to fill her comment section with more positive comments. And I commented myself… and that was when I got a thinly veiled death threat. It isn’t the first time, and I am sure it won’t be the last. Any time I stand up for a minority group really. I was upset… but mainly what upsets me is that we are fighting the wrong fight. Why are we fighting over race and gender when the real fight is class warfare? We are having the wool pulled over our eyes and if this continues we will die divided.
This sounds like conspiracy theories perhaps, but groceries have gone up by approximately 25% since 2020. People will actually start starving soon, if they aren’t already. And I suppose it is my Heathen worldview, but I will be continuing to speak out against injustice when I see it. That is making me incredibly unpopular, but that is just how it must be. I will stand up for minorities. I will point out logical fallacies. I will speak my truth.
And Lest We Forget, our ancestors fought for the freedoms of all Canadians, as outlined in our Canadian Constitution.
